Description:
A sci-fi colony simulation run by an AI narrator. RimWorld controls three survivors of a spaceship crash as they build a colony on a frontier world at the edge of explored space. The sources of inspiration for this game are the spirit of the space western Firefly, the deep development of Dwarf Fortress and the epic Dune and Warhammer 40,000. Keep track of the mood, needs, thoughts, injuries and illnesses of the colonists. Participate in deeply detailed battles of small teams. Use clothes, weapons and equipment made of metal, wood, stone, fabric and exotic, futuristic materials. Battle pirate raiders, hostile tribes, ferocious animals and ancient killing machines.

AI Storyteller: RimWorld is designed not as a competitive strategy game, but as a story generator. It's not about winning and losing, it's about the drama, tragedy and comedy that happens in your colony. The game creates events such as pirate raids, merchant arrivals, and storms. But these events are not accidental. RimWorld uses an AI storyteller (modeled after the AI director from Left 4 Dead) who analyzes a situation and decides which event it thinks will create the best story. You can choose between three storytellers: the thoughtful Cassandra Classic, the more thoughtful, construction-oriented Phoebe Quiet, and the completely unpredictable Randy Chance.
• A Motley Crew: In RimWorld, the colonists are not professional settlers - they are survivors of a passenger liner disaster. They can be accountants, housewives, journalists, cooks, aristocrats, street children, soldiers. The Aristocrat will be strong in communication skills (for recruiting prisoners and trade price negotiations) but will be reluctant to do physical work. A farm simpleton knows how to grow food, but he won't be able to do research. A boring scientist will be good at research, but will be completely incapable of performing social tasks.
• Health simulation: Injuries, infections, prosthetics and chronic diseases are tracked for each part of the body and affect the abilities of the heroes. Eye injuries make it difficult to shoot or perform surgery. Leg wounds slow people down. Hands, brain, mouth, heart, liver, kidneys, stomach, legs, fingers, toes and other parts of the body can become injured, diseased or lost. All this leads to logical in-game effects. Each individual has its own body structure. Take away a leg from a deer - and it will be able to run on the remaining three!
• Seasons and Temperature: Temperatures are simulated both outdoors and indoors. As the seasons change, outdoor temperatures will rise or fall. Plants only grow at certain temperatures. When it gets cold, it starts to snow. People may experience hypothermia or heatstroke. You can control indoor temperatures using heaters and air conditioners for the purpose of survival, comfort, or preventing food from rotting. You can even build lethal temperature traps to fry your enemies alive.
• World and natural area creation: The game creates an entire planet from pole to equator. You choose where to land your rescue module: in the cold northern tundra, in the scorched desert, in the temperate forest or in the steaming equatorial jungle. Different regions have different animals, plants, diseases, temperatures, precipitation, mineral resources and topography. The struggle for survival in a disease-infested, suffocating jungle is very different from the same struggle in the scorched desert lands or in the frozen tundra with a two-month growing season.
• Tutorial System: This type of game can be difficult to learn. That's why we created an adaptive learning system that watches your actions to figure out what parts of the game you understand and teach you the parts you don't. If you don’t understand how to control, the game will unobtrusively explain and help. If you already know something, then the game will not bother you.
• Psychology: People in RimWorld constantly study the situation and environment in order to know how to feel in the moment. They react to hunger and fatigue, to death before their eyes, to disrespectfully buried corpses, to injuries, to darkness, to being in cramped conditions, to sleeping in the open air or in the same room with strangers, and to many other situations. You can check the hero’s psychology at any time to know what he feels and why. When a colonist is stressed for too long, he may experience a "nervous breakdown". Someone can’t stand it and wanders around the colony for some time. Someone is leaving. Someone, like in Dwarf, becomes a psychopath and falls into hysterics of violence.
• Universe: The essence of RimWorld is a mixture of hard science fiction and the Old West. It is a frontier world on the edge of explored space far from the civilized core worlds. The planet is huge and mostly deserted. There are no strong civilizing governments anywhere nearby. You are on your own. The main idea of the RimWorld universe is the diversity of human conditions. Under these conditions, humanity is spreading throughout the galaxy in the absence of other means of movement and communication faster than light.
